"21 year old trundler". Try 20 year old.
I was unaware of the conversation between Collins and whomever told the Ginge about what the new manager might or might not do.

He should get another year at least hopefully, with so many changes likely to happen, some old guard around will be great for bedding in others

I would be more than happy if he were to stay on and take his coaching badges with us, if Pellegrini feels he has more to contribute on the field then I will trust his judgement.

Based on football, he should be leaving, and Oxford and or Burke should be given the chance to play next season.

Based on football he should get another year IMO
Been superb every time he has come in this season, happy to be 4th choice, lowish wages you'd imagine
Leader, passion and guidance for youngsters is a bonus
His injuries were impact injuries weren't they? Rather than Carroll and Antonio made of glass strains and tears etc....

This outrage paints a picture of a lonely Collins, the last person left in the changing room, putting his boots away and thinking 'that’s funny, I’m sure my two year extension expires tomorrow, but no one has mentioned anything to me yet'

He made 13 apprearances last season.
For Pellegrini the decision will be football related. You cant hand out contracts based on sentiment. Been a great servant but old father time catches up with everyone.
I'm sure he is as popular with the other players as he is with the supporters but I'm not sure how you can offer the bloke another contract based on his injuries and lack of playing time last season.
Rice, Ogbonna are the best central defensive pairing and if you add potentially Oxford to that if Pellegrini can get the best out of him and change his attitude Collins is way downthe pecking order along with Reid as well.
I think MP will bring in another centre half as well so unfortunately for Collins his future is away from the club.
Great guy gave his all every time he went on the pitch and will always be remembered fondly by everyone but it's time to say goodbye.

So he's been told it depends on the new manager, and he's waiting on the new manager.
The email was that he's not being retained as at this stage he has not got a new contract.... As he's waiting on the new manager!
Errr...

Looking at his last words on the matter (below, on the day he received the aforementioned email), his contract hasn't expired yet, I would imagine that his currently deal expires at the end of the month, so for now he is still a West Ham player. All clubs had to submit their list of retained players to the FA/PL last week, as the new manager was not in place to decide on a new contract for Collins he obviously was left off the retained list.
gingercollins19: Not officially the end... I’m still a West Ham player and feel I have a lot to offer the club on and off the pitch next season and beyond, will no more in the next few weeks 🙏🏻!! Thank you to all the fans for the amazing reception I got yesterday, I’m a very lucky man to have you all support me how you do... can’t thank you all enough ❤️⚒⚒ @westham #coyi

I'm sorry but I don't understand the problem.
The day before his contract expires he is told it will be down to the new manager to decide if he gets a new one.
The next day his contract expires and he gets an email informing him if this.
He is now still in a position of waiting to see if the new manager wants him. If so he will get a new contract as previously discussed.
Is that about right?!

I haven't followed this much so unclear what has happened?
It is no slur on Ginge, but perhaps the publicity will turn out to be a good thing for him, rather than slipping out the back door quietly as this has notified everyone of his potential availability and he should get more offers if he doesn't stay on. Whatever happens I wish him well, great servant for the club. Age catches up with us all sadly.
